TM 9-1711 ~ White 160AX Half Track Engine
This is a quality reprint of US Army Manual TM9-1711. Originally published in January of 1942, it is the White Half-Track Engine Manual. If you have a Half-Track then you should have a copy of this manual. Originals are getting too expensive to get greasy. I have watched original copies of this manual continue to increase in price on Ebay. Here is one for a fraction of the original that can be used in the shop. Format: 8.5X11 inches ~ 308 Pages
From the Manual:
1. INTRODUCTION
A. General. This manual is published for the information and guidance of ordnance maintenance personnel. It contains detailed instructions for removal, disassembly, and installation of the White, 160AX gasoline engine, and all its accessories half-track vehicles. These instructions are supplementary to those in the field and technical manuals prepares for the using arm. Additional descriptive matter and illustrations are included to aid in providing a complete corking knowledge of the materiel.
B. Vehicle generally Information concerning the service maintenance, technical inspection, and lubrication of the entire vehicle will be found in TM9-710.
C. Power Train. For maintenance information pertaining to the power train refer to TM9-1710
D. Chassis and body. For maintenance information concerning the chassis and body components, refer to TM9-1712.
The pictures are very usable and not washed out or too dark like many of the manuals I have seen that from copy machines. This is laser printed on 24 pound paper. Copy paper is generally 20 pound and you can feel the difference. It is bound with GBC plastic combs so that it will lay flat. If you would like I can, rather than bind with the plastic comb, three hole punch it for your binder.
If you are collecting military manuals or looking for a prop to display at your next show, this is not the manual you want. If you want some usable information on American Half-Tracks used during WWII that will lay flat on your bench when you are working on your pride and joy or some period information on how it was done back Sixty Five years ago while you curl up in front of the fire this winter, this is the one you need.
