Tungsten-filament bulb headlights do not give off as much light as the Halogen bulbs. Halogen bulbs have become the standard on almost all cars from the factory. There is no difference between the old tungsten filament headlights and our modern halogen headlights when it comes to installation.

These Halogen bulbs are a safety feature for your six volt car.  The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration states that nearly half of all traffic-related fatalities occur in the dark, despite only 25% of traffic traveling during darkness.

Halogen bulbs  are superior because there is a higher color temperature, 2800° K to 3400° K than conventional bulbs, are more compact, and also have a longer lamp life.  In conventional gas-filled tungsten-filament lamps, molecules evaporate from the hot filament which are carried by convection currents of the inert fill gas to the relatively cool inner surface of the bulb. This is deposited to form a thin film which gradually increases in thickness during the life of the lamp. This will cause less lumen output and efficiancy in two ways. First, the deposits that build up a film will decrease the total light output. Second, evaporation of tungsten from the filament reduces the filament wire diameter, increasing the resistance and making the bulb dimmer!
