The Hot-Spark electronic ignition conversion kit replaces breaker points and condenser in the distributor to provide rock-solid reliability. With the Hot-Spark electronic ignition, dwell and timing are always spot-on accurate.
centrifugal-advance -matter how strong your engine is, you won't get the most out of it without a good spark. The stock Hitachi ignition system used technology that dates back a century-to the Kettering system, which was introduced in the 1910 Cadillac. Even though you can adjust breaker points for near-electronic ignition performance, they will burn and wear within a few thousand miles, long before the recommended replacement interval. With points, the timing will drift; power and fuel economy will suffer.

Replaces points and condenser - Never adjust points or timing again!
The points in your distributor must look exactly like the points in the above photos or the 3HIT4U1 or 3HIT6U1 ignition kit won't fit your distributor. If your distributor's breaker plate has an upright pivot pin remaining, after you remove the points, this ignition kit won't fit it. The points must be the type that are secured to the breaker plate by two screws. The above-pictured points are 1-piece, right-hand pivot pin points.
For original equipment Datsun/Nissan/Hitachi points-based (with single points, not dual-point) distributors only.
The 3HIT4U1 (4-cylinder) ignition kit's magnet sleeve fits distributor shaft lobes that measure 16.10 mm from flat edge-to-flat edge. A few Hitachi distributor shafts have a round extrusion or "bump," above the distributor shaft lobes, that prevents the magnet sleeve from being seated. That raised lip must either be machined down on a lathe or the magnet sleeve won't fit that distributor.
