As a long time seller of only exhaust header wrap on eBay (since 2002), many others have tried to copy us (just check their listings), but they have a hard time trying to sell their product against us! One seller has emailed me asking questions about wrap and now says he is a authority on wrap.
I sell only exhaust heat wrap on eBay I do not sell Stainless Steel zip ties, Stainless Steel wire ties, or Stainless Steel hose clamps to hold the wrap on the pipe. I do not believe in the silicone sealer or paint to color or seal the wrap from road debris that is available, so I do not offer that. You can buy High Temperature Paint that has silicone in it for less than what the larger wrap distributors advertise.

This technique has been used and has been proven to reduce under the hood temps up to 70%! In fact exhaust wrap blocks more heat than the ceramic coating on headers! Wrapping the exhaust system maintains hotter exhaust gases, decreasing the density, and allowing the exhaust gas to exit the system faster! By doing this, the engine breathes more efficiently, thus allowing the engine to develop more power!
Pipes will fail before the wrap will fail; the black dye will fail before the wrap will fail. White wrap have been used on NASCAR engines developing 5000, 6000 or 7000 HP engines running in a race, in the past. While most people do not know what the temperature of their exhaust inside and outside the pipe, this can be important when installing wrap. Many custom bike builders and manufacturers are now installing wrap on their products.
Save $150 - $500 by using wrap instead of applying a coating to the inside and outside of your pipes or headers.
If you are planning on wrapping pipes on a motorcycle then 20' could be enough. If you are planning on wrapping headers or your factory manifolds on 4 cylinder a 50' roll should be enough, on a V6 or V8 2-50' rolls could be enough. This wrap will work on any car, truck or motorcycle. On motorcycles it can be used to cover blue from heat on the chrome exhaust pipes or over just steel pipes. It also makes riding more comfortable with the heat not coming off the exhaust and burning your skin when doing some fancy maneuvers. If you can wrap it you can use it! This wrap can even be used to eliminate turbo lag!
With so many applications please use the guide below to figure the length needed.
.
How much do I order: Another way to figure wrap length needed: If you take a string and wrap around your pipe(s) leaving a 1.5 inch gap between wraps, you will have the length. Measure the string, add 10 percent and order accordingly.
It is normal for the wrap to smoke after installation. This is part of the break in of the wrap.
Some important installation information:
Start the wrapping about 1/4 inch from the flange to allow clearance for the header bolts, continue by overlapping first wrap and continue to the end of the pipe. At the other end use a Stainless Steel Zip Tie, Stainless Steel Hose Clamp, or Stainless Steel Wire. When wrapping only use a 1/4" or less in overlap. This allows the heat to be drawn from the motor, but still allows the heat to evenly dissipate through out the system. If you use more than 1/4" in overlap you may cause fatiguing due to hot spots in your tubes, which can damage your headers. This is why most header companies do not WARRANTY their headers when exhaust wrap is used. Plastic zip ties can be used to hold the wrap in place while you wrap the pipe. Remove the plastic ties when completed before starting the engine.
Don't be fooled by buying a 1/8" thick or a narrow wrap (less than 2") exhaust wrap that will retain too much heat in the pipe and may cause fatiguing due to hot spots to your pipes.
Also, I wouldn't recommend using this wrap if your vehicle LEAKS OIL OR OTHER FLUIDS. Never wrap a pipe that has oil on it; clean the oil off before wrapping the pipe. Although this wrap doesn't burn IT WILL HOLD FLUIDS THAT WILL BURN. BY BUYING THIS PRODUCT YOU ARE AGREEING THAT YOU UNDERSTAND THAT INSULATION CLOTH CAN HOLD FLUIDS AND THEY WILL BURN IF THEY ARE FLAMABLE. I will not be held responsible for user negligence. Paint (or silicone sealer) is available to change or keep the appearance of the wrap is available. The paint (or silicone sealer) also protects from oil absorption. At the present time, we do not have a recommendation for paint (or silicone sealer) so we do not offer it.
We warranty our wrap for insulation of heat from inside the pipe. We do not warranty it for anything else.
