Volkswagen & Suzuki – it’s handbags at dawn
Mon, 12 Sep 2011Volkswagen Suzuki Partnership - things aren't exactly rosy Back in 2009 Volkswagen invested a rather large chunk of change (around €2 billion) in Suzuki in exchange for a 20% stake in the Japanese car maker, and there were big hopes for advantages for both parties. Volkswagen were looking for a quick-fix route to the burgeoning car market in India, where Suzuki were doing very well, with sales in India last year of 1.13 million cars – almost half its production – in comparison to VW’s paltry sales of just 53,000. In return, Suzuki were expecting to get a quick route to cutting-edge hybrid and electric tech for their range, and access to VW’s engines.
McLaren lock out front row (again) in Malaysian F1 Grand Prix qualifying
Sat, 24 Mar 20122012 Malaysian Grand Prix Qualifying - it's another McLaren front row. In a repeat of last week’s Australian Grand Prix, McLaren have locked out the front row in qualifying for the Malaysian Grand Prix, with Hamilton on Pole. Another week, another 2012 F1 Grand Prix; this time in Malaysia – sort of up a bit and left from last week’s Melbourne race.
NEVS completes Saab purchase
Tue, 04 Sep 2012National Electric Vehicle Sweden AB (NEVS) has completed the purchase of the assets of Saab, but can’t use the Griffin logo. It looks like the Chinese, Japanese, Swedish Consortium NEVS has finally completed the process of acquiring the assets of bankrupt Saab, but it hasn’t quite got all it wanted. We reported last week that the process of acquiring Saab had been delayed as there were still issues over the rights to the Saab log, a logo owned by Scania and Saab Aerospace.
