Designed by Jason Castriota, the all-new vehicle is a clear evolution of the company's first car, which also featured a cab-forward, large rear deck layout. The downsizing trend continues apace and the new warm-hatch Fiestas are first to get a higher-output version of the 1.0-litre three-cylinder Ecoboost engine, tweaked to 138bhp thanks to variable cam timing, higher turbo boost and direct injection. Ford claims the new Fiesta specials are the most powerful 1.0-litre cars in the world.

Prior to the reveal of the LF-A we had Dutch car journo Thomas Bangma telling us that the LF-A was the best driving car ever (we’re sure it’s wonderful – but the best ever?). We then had the reveal of the LF-A at the Tokyo Motor Show in October, when it was revealed that the LF-A will cost upwards of £300k and just 500 will be built.
