Mercedes-Benz sells 1000,000 cars in a year in the UK for the first time

Mercedes Bristol hands over the 100,000th Mercedes old in the UK in 2013 It looks like Mercedes move in to a more convincing compact car with the new A-Class is already paying dividends, with Mercedes announcing it has already broken the 100,000 car sales in the UK for this year with a full month still to go. The 100,000th car is, appropriately, a white Mercedes  A 180 CDI Sport – perhaps the best-selling A-Class – which has been collected by its new owner from Mercedes-Benz of Bristol. This is the first full year the new A-Class has been on sale (although the first customer cars didn’t start arriving until well in to the new year) and augers well for sales numbers in 2014.

IRANIAN President Mahmoud Ahmadinajad is auctioning his 1977 Peugeot 504 to raise money for charity. The often controversial leader is inviting bids through Iran’s Central Bank, with the money raised intended to be used to build homes for the poor and disabled of Iran. Florida man claims ownership of long-lost Cunningham Corvette

A Florida man says the long-lost 1960 Chevrolet Corvette race car that made a brief public appearance in Carlisle, Pa., last week was owned and raced by his father in the 1970s, and claims the car belongs to him. The challenged ownership of the maroon-colored car--one of three raced in the 1960 24 Hours of Le Mans by Briggs Cunningham and valued by some collectors at more than $1 million--could be the reason organizers of the Corvettes at Carlisle show canceled a planned public display on Aug. 24 less than 30 minutes before the scheduled start time.
