JAC revealed this four-door Vision IV concept at the Beijing Motor Show. Designed by JAC's Turin-based design team, the concept showcases both a hybrid powertrain and a new A-segment chassis that houses a lithium ion battery in the center tunnel. The styling is meant to convey both a sense of 'natural electricity' and the fluid, natural strokes of Chinese calligraphy. Public Says No To Motorway Go Slow Plans

IT’S A BIG ‘no’ from the motoring public on the subject of lowering motorway speed limits, according to a survey conducted by car supermarket firm Motorpoint. In light of recent proposals to reduce to 60mph the speed limit on a 34-mile section of the M1 spanning Derbyshire and South Yorkshire due to pollution concerns, the web-based survey found 78.1 per cent of drivers opposed such measures. Over 4,100 people participated in the poll on the company’s website – www.motorpoint.co.uk.

Toyota to unlock secrets of black-box recorders

Reacting to criticism that data from black-box crash recorders in its vehicles can be accessed only by the company, Toyota Motor Corp. is moving to ship hundreds of data-decoding machines to the United States and make them commercially available to help diagnose vehicle problems. The devices, known as event data recorders, are similar to the black boxes on airliners and record information such as vehicle and engine speed in the seconds before a crash.
