After slumping for several years as the economy tanked and gas prices spiked, pickup demand is rising faster than the overall sales gains of most automakers--serving as a pillar once again during the industry's fledgling recovery. Mercedes-Benz hires BMW designer

Seems like the Mercedes-Benz design department is bulking up on new talent. Karim Habib, the exterior designer of the new BMW 7-series, has been lured to Mercedes-Benz where he will head up the advanced design studio on the outskirts of Stuttgart, Germany. Habib will work under Mercedes-Benz's new design boss, Gorden Wagener.

2013 Chevrolet Camaro SS gets 1LE track option

Chevrolet is resurrecting the 1LE order code for the 2013 Camaro SS. It will turn the pony car into a dedicated track toy with an upgraded suspension, ZL1-based wheels and tires and a high-capacity fuel pump for handling 1g corner loads. The original 1LE was introduced in 1988, inspired by Pro-Am racing.
