Brief 4 – GMC: CDN–GM Interactive Design Competition
Thu, 14 Aug 2014Once again, Car Design News and General Motors are holding an Interactive Design Competition. There are five design briefs to choose from, each set by GM's design teams, and you're invited to submit your entry on the competition website: http://www.cardesigncontest.com/ The fourth of our briefs comes from GMC, GM's truck-and-utility-only brand, and asks you to design of the interior or exterior of a GMC show car to be revealed at the 2030 North American International Auto Show. Your design should focus on a future interpretation of GMC's ‘industrial sculpture' design philosophy. You'll need to bear in mind who the customer for this truck or utility vehicle is, and consider what is the purpose and application of the vehicle.
Audi A3 Cabriolet 1.2 TFSI hits UK
Fri, 26 Mar 2010The Audi A3 1.2 TFSI Cabriolet arrives in the UK The Frankfurt Motor Show last year was – as is often the case these days – something of a ‘Green-fest’. It may be the smallest engine, but it’s not the least powerful thanks to the turbo.
Jay Leno gives us the lowdown on his McLaren P1 (video)
Tue, 13 May 2014Jay Leno drives his new McLaren P1 Jay Leno has no shortage of cars to play with in his collection, but if this video of Jay and his new McLaren P1 is anything to go by, the P1 is his favourite car by far (at least for now). Jay meets up with McLaren CEO Mike Flewitt at his garage and there’s plenty of chat about what makes the P1 special, and how it compares to the legendary McLaren F1 (a car Jay also owns). Then it’s time for a drive out in the P1, first with Mike Flewitt as a passenger and then with Jay on his own as he takes the P1 round the winding roads near his home, and Jay reveals that he put nearly 900 miles on the clock in the first five days he had the P1.
