Art Center Summit 2009
Thu, 26 Feb 2009The Art Center Summit, now in its third year, has finally seen the rest of the world catch up with its preoccupations. Initially conceived in 2006-07 to bring government, academic, and business leaders to Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA, to discuss issues related to mobility and sustainability, the summit has benefited from the financial turmoil that has recently gripped the world. Previously, the event was highly speculative and appealed mainly to designers working in the advanced mobility community; this year, the summit occurred against a backdrop of meltdown in the US auto industry, chaos in the global financial sector, and a growing realization - supported by the incoming Obama administration - that energy and transportation policy will form a key part of a Green future.
Hyundai at CES 2011
Sat, 08 Jan 2011Hyundai proved to be one of the biggest automotive surprises here at CES. While Audi and Ford have grabbed the headlines, it's clear that Hyundai isn't far behind, and on this evidence, may even be ahead in some areas of in-car electronics, before too long. The company unveiled its new ‘Bluelink' infotainment and telematics system as part of Tuesday's Consumer Telematics Show and this was being demonstrated on the company's show stand at CES too.
Dacia Logan Estate: Price from £6,995
Fri, 05 Apr 2013The Dacia Logan MCV (Estate) becomes the UK’s cheapest estate car with prices from £6,995 – for the Logan MCV 1.2 Access trim – rising to £10,795. That’s £1,000 less than we’d expected when the Logan estate was revealed at Geneva last month, and cheap enough to make it the cheapest estate car on sale in the UK. True, the entry-level Logan estate in Access trim with the 1.2 litre 74bhp petrol engine, 15″ steel wheels and not a lot of toys, isn’t exactly specced up, but if you need a proper estate car – and you want it new – the Logan MCV (the MCV bit means ‘Maximum Capacity Vehicle) is a great deal.
