Back to basics for VW, says Walter de Silva
Wed, 25 Jun 2008By Adam Towler Motor Industry 25 June 2008 13:01 It was an odd place for an inside line into what future Volkswagens will look like, but when head of VW Group design Walter de Silva invited CAR to the old Fiat Lingotto factory in Turin - now a conference and shopping centre – we could hardly say no. De Silva described VW as being immersed in a 'process of defining their design language' which could be read as ‘we’re still sucking our designer thumbs to see what happens’. Audi, De Silva said, had already been through that process and its design DNA was ‘understood by everyone in the company, right down to the smallest details'.
New Bentley Continental GT Speed hits 205mph (video)
Wed, 22 Aug 2012With the new Bentley Continental GT Speed about to get its public debut at the Moscow Motor Show we have new video of the GT Speed hitting 205mph. We had the news this morning that the Bentley Continental GT and GTC are both getting the new 8-speed ZF gearbox to make them both quicker and more economical, a new feature for the W12 engined Bentleys that’s also shared by the new Continental GT Speed. The GT Speed is due to get its public debut at the Moscow Motor Show next week, and as a bit of a PR trailer for its public debut Bentley has released new video of the GT Speed doing what it does very well – going quickly.
Is the 2013 Aston Martin Rapide getting more power and a facelift?
Fri, 03 Aug 2012The rumours are growing that Aston Martin are giving the Rapide a makeover for 2013 with more power and cosmetic tweaks. The rumours have been bubbling around for a while that Aston Martin are planning a more powerful Rapide for 2013, perhaps the Rapide S. But that rumour seems to be only partly true, as it looks like the Rapide is going to get more power – and a bit of a cosmetic tweak – but as a facelift and upgrade for the existing Rapide rather than a new Rapide S.
