This is the first look at the new S60 concept Volvo plans to reveal at the Detroit Auto Show in January. But the five-year-old event is fast becoming a fixture in the broader design calendar, and has been sponsored by Jaguar for the past four years for good reason. In simple terms, Jaguar wants to be seen (and respected) beyond the automotive realm: "We want to connect with other designers and have our designers learn from designers in other fields," advanced design director Julian Thomson told Car Design News.

Ford to reveal design concept, Focus performance variant at Frankfurt

Ford is staging four global reveals in September at the Frankfurt motor show, including a design concept and performance news related to the Focus. Spokespeople at Ford declined to offer specifics, but the cars will be rolled out on Sept. 12 to the media, ahead of a public unveiling.
