But 48 hours is a long time in a 2012 season of tyres that dictate performance seemingly based on which way the wind’s blowing. The cash-for-clunkers program has reached sales of more than 180,000--topped by the Toyota Corolla--as the Senate is poised to vote on an extension of the program on as soon as Thursday. The Ford Focus is the second-best-selling car under the program, and the Honda Civic, the Toyota Prius and the Camry complete the top five, according to Reuters. The top trade-ins were all domestics, including trucks from Ford and Dodge, as well as Jeep.

MA students from the Coventry University Automotive Design course are preparing for their annual degree exhibition. This year's show, entitled 'Move' will present the work of 21 students in the new Coventry Transport Museum, Hales St, in the centre of the city. The projects on show cover the full spectrum of vehicle concepts, with the show zoned into four themes: 'Move-Art', 'Move-Identity', 'Move-Current' and 'Move-Extreme'.
