2014 Porsche Macan video review

Mon, 17 Feb 2014

The all-new Porsche Macan is likely to become the brand's best-selling model. The compact SUV is a rival for cars such as the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and Range Rover Evoque and MSN Cars got behind the wheel to test the Macan's abilities on the road, off-road and on a test track. The Macan is Porsche's second SUV - it's a baby brother to the larger Cayenne and goes on sale in April, with prices starting from £43,300.

The next McLaren supercar will be called the 650S

Wed, 12 Feb 2014

We've known that McLaren has a pair of additional models in the works, including a Porsche 911-fighting, 12C-based sports car known only as the P13 and another car positioned between the 12C and the P1. Previously, we'd heard the code name “P15” tossed around in reference to that latter car, but McLaren has officially christened it the 650S ahead of its world debut at the upcoming Geneva motor show. According to the automaker, the 650S “takes learnings from both the 12C as well as the sell-out McLaren P1 [ed note: there has to be a better way to say that] and will be positioned between the two on McLaren Automotive's supercar grid.“ We liked the 12C, and we really, really liked the P1.

CAR tech: Audi's miracle e-fuel (2013)

Mon, 29 Jul 2013

Global warming; sky-high oil prices as reserves peak; spiralling crop prices and intense pressure to find fertile land – society faces immense challenges, as it strives to protect the planet and keep our cars on the move. Audi is working on a miracle fuel that could help mitigate these problems, in a facility under construction in the uncompromising, scorching environment of New Mexico, USA.  Not content with having a range more diverse than London’s World Pride parade, Audi is moving into the fuels business, in partnership with US biotech firm Joule Unlimited. The pair are developing carbon-neutral synthetic fuels, called e-fuels in keeping with Audi’s E-tron eco brand.
