This auction is for a Cessna control yoke and shaft as pictured. It was labeled as having been removed from a Piper aircraft,  but I do not know if it was a Cessna 150, 152, or 172  or ???. The control shaft measures 12.5" long when measured from the back face of the yoke. The control shaft is 3/4" in diameter, and as the picture shows there no corrosion.  It also features the control lock pin hole that allows the elevator and ailerons to be locked in place when the aircraft is parked. The Port Townsend Aero Museum received this yoke as part of a large donation made to us by a gentleman who was retiring from his long time aircraft repair business. This part was included in his inventory of used parts which he deemed "serviceable" or as "core".  As with any used aircraft part  you will need to have your licensed aircraft mechanic determine the airworthiness of this part prior to installation into your aircraft.

This control yoke is being offered for auction by the Port Townsend Aero Museum in Port Townsend Washington. We are a non-profit 501 C-3 organization that is dedicated to the preservation, restoration, and operation of antique and classic aircraft through the involvement of our local youth population. If you have a minute you can learn more about our aero museum on the internet by searching for Port Townsend Aero Museum.

The winning bidder will need to contact us within 24 hours regarding payment. Payment is due within 72 hours of the auction closing. Paypal is our preferred method of payment. Overseas bidders must use Paypal if they win the bid.

Thank you.

General Motors designs windshield to see what the eye might miss

Wed, 17 Mar 2010

General Motors is developing a windshield display system designed to outline the edges of roads in fog and highlight a deer before it crosses into traffic. The system works by collecting information through vehicle sensors and cameras and projecting laser-generated images onto the windshield. It can also highlight road signs and tell drivers when construction is coming or when a desired exit is approaching.
