Bentley plug-in hybrid confirmed – but not for the ‘Green’
Tue, 30 Aug 2011The very best sort of 'Green Bentley' To be entirely fair to Bentley CEO Wolfgang Dürheimer, he hasn’t said that Bentley are planning a hybrid for reasons other than a green halo, but it seems very likely that’s the case. Especially as they are planning a plug-in Bentley. So what other reason could Bentley have for offering a plug-in hybrid other than to be ‘Green’?
MINI One Convertible launched plus MINI range revisions
Wed, 13 Jan 2010MINI has launched the MINI One Convertible It’s at least five minutes since MINI hurled yet another model at us, so with a New Year upon us they’ve obviously decided to see if they can outdo the new model every month they announced in 2009 with the launch of the MINI One Convertible and a bunch of changes across the range to kick off 2010. The MINI One Convertible is the new starting point for a soft-top MINI and gets the same oily bits as the MINI One – a 97bhp 1.6 litre with a top speed of 114mph and a 0-60mph of a leisurely 11.3 seconds. You can also opt for the new ‘Minimalism’ trim level – only available on the MINI One – in either 75bhp or 97bhp forms.
Jaguar XF – the 2010 police version for Plod
Wed, 28 Apr 2010This is the first police-spec Jaguar XF – bound to an orderly life of patrolling the motorways around the Midlands area encircling Jaguar's HQ. The local constabulary has bought seven 271bhp 3.0-litre Diesel S models in police trim. What's changed to make the XF a police car?Not much out of the ordinary. It's much easier to spot than a demarked police car, with its roof bar, LED flashers in the grille and refletive decals galore. It's ironic that Jags used to be the getaway vehicle of choice in the 50s, 60s and 70s in films of a certain bent; now Jaguar has gone good and supplying Plod himself.
