General Motors says Magna's Opel bid has obstacles, RHJ's is easier to accept

General Motors Co. says a bid for Opel from Magna International faces hurdles while a rival offer from Belgian investor RHJ International would be easier to accept. Writing on GM Europe's Web site, John Smith, GM's chief negotiator for the Opel sale, says Magna's bid "contained elements around intellectual property and our Russian operations that simply could not be implemented." Motoring groups warn over M1 speed limit change

MOTORING campaigners have warned that speed limits on motorways across the country could be cut after the Highways Agency announced plans for a 60mph zone on the M1. The plan would come into effect between junction 28 of the M1 at Mansfield and junction 35a for Sheffield and Rotherham between 7am and 7pm, seven days a week. The Highways Agency said the reduced speed limit would be used to help reduce emissions along the route.

Arash Motors is the latest in a succession of recently established low-volume manufacturers, and has unveiled their first car, the AF10, at the British Motor Show in London. Since the company's conception in March this year, the team has been working continuously on the AF10, with styling done in-house by Arash Farboud Designs. The company is based in Cambridge, UK, with testing of the bespoke chassis done at the nearby Millbrooke circuit.
