Up for auction, an Accel dual point distributor and an AC counter clockwise tach. The distributor is model number 30100T. It is missing the contacts, rotor and lead wires, these are available from ebay vendors and the 1-800 operations. When looking at the top of the distributor shaft and rotating it clockwise, the driven gear for the tach rotates counter clockwise. This would be a cool addition to a hot rod. I've also learned that this distributor can be modified for use in a Ford flathead engine. The cable is a 1968 and earlier General Motors speedometer cable. You could also used a 1968 and earlier Corvette tach cable. The tach fits a Moroso bracket, it could be mounted that way or a custom in-dash installation.

This tach may or may not give an accurate reading.

These items are used and are sold "As-Is".

Lexus GS 300h: Shanghai Motor Show

Sat, 20 Apr 2013

Offering much better economy than the GS 450h, it offers not only a viable alternative for private buyers looking for a bit of beautifully built Japanese luxury with lower running costs, but also makes the GS a much more appealing option for company car drivers – probably where most of the sales will be made. Lexus are aiming for Co2 emissions below 110g/km for the GS 300h (the IS 300h manages 99g/km) which will give headline economy around 60mpg – a third better than the GS 450h can manage. Power comes from the same hybrid drivetrain as the IS 300h, which means a 2.5 litre petrol mated to an electric motor and delivering 215bhp and o-62mph in around 8.5 seconds.

G-Power pushes BMW M5 to 228 mph

Fri, 06 Feb 2009

This could be the first speed record broken this year, with plenty more to come. BMW tuner G-Power has taken the blazing-fast BMW M5 and added two superchargers, an intercooler, forged pistons and some other bits and pieces. The result is a 750-hp, 228-mph missile that topped the Brabus Rocket on the speed chart.

Maybe Not So Absurd

Thu, 28 Jun 2012

The big luxury utes are coming, and I've been thinking about them quite a bit lately. In particular, I speak of the Bentley EXP 9 F, the Lamborghini Urus and the Maserati Kubang. At first glance they seem illogical; they're all imposing and, each in its own way, over the top.
