This auction is for a Chevy Rally wheel with a BF Goodrich Radial T/A tire mounted on it. This wheel and tire was just removed from the trunk of a 1974 Chevy Malibu mounted as the spare tire. It was in the trunk for at least 6 years.

The wheel is in very good shape. It looks like the original paint and there is no rust on it. It has various markings on it, including "K182", "K182 3 23 AZ", and possibly "8 13". See photos.

From what I have read, this is a 15 x 8 Corvette rally wheel, made by Kelsey-Hayes in Michigan in 1968.

The tire is a BF Goodrich Radial T/A, P255/60SR15 M+S 102S. Other codes are "E4" in a circle followed by "021009". The tread looks good and it does not seem to be dry-rotted.

This is for local pickup in Edison, NJ only. Contact me if shipping is desired, but it will be buyer's responsibility to arrange for packing/shipping. If you want to send me a shipping label I will drop off the wheel/tire at FedEx or UPS. Size is 26" diameter x 10" wide. Weight is 52 pounds.

Dual-clutch transmission put on hold at Chrysler

Mon, 14 Nov 2011

Chrysler Group has delayed introduction of a fuel-saving automatic transmission so it can make the shift patterns more palatable to U.S. drivers--the latest sign that a key tool in automakers' plans to meet tougher fuel-economy rules needs some fine-tuning. Two weeks ago, Ford Motor Co., which uses a similar dual-clutch transmission in its Fiesta and Focus, took a hit in Consumer Reports' annual reliability survey because many drivers complained about balky shifting.

Land Rover reaches coldest inhabited place on Earth

Wed, 22 Jan 2014

Despite the second snowpocalypse of the year and the reappearance of the polar vortex, the American Midwest and Northeast are not the coldest places in the world right now, contrary to what you might have felt this morning during your commute. So the Petsmart parking lot in Schenectady, New York is going to have have to have to get a few degrees colder if it wants to make it in the Guinness Book of Records. The title holder of the coldest inhabited place in the world happens to be the district of Oymyakon in Russia, though it's a bit further south from the Arctic Ocean than you'd expect.

Driven: BMW X3

Fri, 04 Feb 2011

The BMW X3 had the premium CUV market to itself when launched in 2004. Skip forward to the launch of the second generation and not only does the new version have a whole host of competitors for company, it also has to fit around its X1, X5 and X6 siblings. We took the 2011 BMW X3 (known internally as F25) to the Austrian Tyrol and spoke to its exterior designer, Erik Goplen, to find out if it still has the segment covered.
