Between the years 2003 and 2007 General Motors produced their pick up and SUV models with defective (recalled) parts inside the instrument cluster. Over time the defective parts, will wear out causing erratic movement of the gauges including the speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, oil pressure gauge, water temp gauge, volt gauge and the optional transmission temperature gauge.

Common symptoms of motor failure are: Dead or sticky gauges, Gauges giving obviously wrong readings, Needles "pegging out"or showing maximum readings, Intermittent operation of gauges and Speedometer that read roughly half or even double theactual vehicle speed. Obviously this situation can lead to potential speeding tickets.  Even unsafe conditions if the driver is startled at the incorrect reading while driving. Commonly, fuel gauge failure has led to drivers being stranded along the road as they attempt to measure their fuel by miles driven on the odometer.

If you find yourself with a GM vehicle that has any of these problems you have a few options. First, you can consider buying a used cluster assembly from a salvage yard or "junk yard". Be aware however, you must have the mileage programmed from the dealer and all used clusters will have the same defective parts and will also fail in time.

Second, you can take your GM vehicle to the local dealership. They will replace the entire part with a price tag between $400 and $800 with an extended down time of at least 1-2 weeks.

Third, you can have your original instrument cluster repaired by a professional speedometer repair business (www.RepairMyGauge.com). The best for many GM owners as it requires no re-programming fees, little or no down time and the least overall cost of all the options.

Hungarian GP qualifying: Rosberg on pole for Mercedes – Hamilton out of qualifying after car fire

Sat, 26 Jul 2014

Hungarian GP qualifying: Rosberg (pictured) on pole for Mercedes Lewis Hamilton seems to have had most of the unreliability problems that have hit Mercedes this year, but a fire in his car before he even set a time in qualifying for the 2014 Hungarian Grand Prix today in Budapest was a cruel blow to his title chances. Hamilton managed to limp his stricken car in to the pits as flames licked round the back after what appears to have been a fuel leak, but that means Hamilton will start from the back of the grid tomorrow, making it incredibly difficult to get even close to Rosberg who finished qualifying on pole. Behind Rosberg, Sebastian Vettel managed to put the Red Bull in second, with Williams’ Botas in third during a final qualifying that saw rain drench the first corner, nearly claiming Rosberg and sending McLaren’s Magnussen in to the tyre barrier and out of Q3.

Kia KND-4 Concept (2007): first official pictures

Tue, 10 Apr 2007

By Jack Carfrae First Official Pictures 10 April 2007 11:16 KND-4 concept: the lowdown Kia has lifted the lid on its latest concept car, the KND-4 crossover. Painted in lime green paint and sporting deep-dished, 20-inch alloys, it’s not what you’d call subtle. There’s not much chance of seeing the KND-4 parked on your local Kia dealer's forecourt, though - this is very much a design project to showcase the company’s direction for its 4x4s.

New Ferrari F12 Berlinetta unveiled UPDATED

Wed, 29 Feb 2012

Ferrari F12 Berlinetta is here It’s the new Ferrari F12 Berlinetta – not the F620 – but it is the replacement for the 599 and heading for a Geneva Debut. After leaks of images and photos of mock-ups what we thought would be called the F620 turns out to be the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta. Despite the name attached to the leaks of the new F12 being wrong, the photos were pretty much right.
