To understand CHIP Tuning, you should understand the function of today’s motors in rough detail. Since the 1990s, control units are built into the engines. Initially these control units only had simple functions. Thus, originally only the information on the fuel quantity and the injection time was transmitted by signal to the nozzles. The data in a program and a database are processed in the engine control unit depending on these various parameters (provided by probes and sensors). Thus, the load pressure, injection quantity and ignition time are passed on to the engine. This program or the database are located in one or more chips in the control unit.
