When the engine is first started, a very rich air/fuel mixture is required because cold fuel does not turn into a gas. The choke at the top of the carburetor provides the richer mixture by closing thus creating an area of low pressure inside the throat of the carburetor which helps to pull additional fuel through the main metering circuit. At idle there isn't enough air flowing through the carb float to pull fuel through the main discharge nozzle. The manifold vacuum rather than normal venturi vacuum helps to draw the extra fuel through the main metering circuit by temporarily choking off the air supply. When the choked engine is cranked, fuel is pulled into the engine through the idle port, the transfer port and also the main metering circuit. Combined with the reduced air supply, it creates the very rich mixture that's needed to start a cold engine.As soon as the engine starts, it needs air to keep running and to offset the very rich fuel mixture. This is why the choke pull-off is important as it is attached to the choke linkage where it pulls the choke plate open slightly as soon as the engine starts. If the choke pull-off is defective because of a vacuum leak or ruptured diaphragm, the engine may be hard to start or stall. You can adjust the choke pull-off by bending the "U-shaped" pull-off linkage. Do not bend too much as, it may open the choke too far, allowing too much air which will cause the engine to stall. The latest chapter in the ongoing development of the company aims to resurrect not only the Jensen brand, but also its most famous creation: the Interceptor. The new car, set to publicly unveiled in late 2012, has been penned by Coventry-based design consultancies and echoes the original built between 1966 and 1976.

The next-generation Porsche Boxster will get a longer wheelbase and measure nearly 173 inches long overall, British magazine Autocar says on its Web site. Why is the Boxster growing? To create room at the bottom of the Porsche lineup for a new two-seater based on the Volkswagen BlueSport concept shown at the Detroit auto show in 2009, the report says.
