2015 Corvette Stingray will get an eight-speed automatic transmission
Tue, 08 Apr 20142015 Corvette Stingray buyers will have a new transmission option when they head to dealer lots next year: An eight-speed automatic that will supposedly weight less than the six-speed it replaces and boasting quicker shift times than the dual-clutch in the Porsche 911. Named the 8L90, this eight-speed will be built in Ohio and will also be found on the upcoming Corvette Z06. If the gearbox is capable of handling the 625 hp put down by that supercharged beast, we're sure it'll take on the regular Stingray's 455 hp without breaking a sweat.
Lyonheart K Jaguar E-Type: Price from €360,000
Tue, 19 Mar 2013The Lyonheart K – a recreation of the Jaguar E-Type – will cost from €360k for the Coupe and €375k for the Convertible (pus vat). For your €360k plus VAT (roughly £366k inc vat) you get all the beauty of an E-Type but with modern underpinnings including the heart of a Jaguar XK and its 5.0 litre supercharged V8 with Cosworth tweaks to deliver 575PS offering a very non-E-Type 0-62mph of under 4 seconds. Fifty per cent of Lyonheart K production is staying in Europe, 20 per cent is off to the Middle East and 30 per cent to China, with a total of just 250 cars being built, starting in December 2013 and ending in the summer of 2015.
Hennessey Venom F5 (2016): is this really a 290mph supercar?
Thu, 07 Aug 2014By Tim Pollard First Official Pictures 07 August 2014 10:16 Meet the Hennessey Venom F5, the extreme supercar successor to the Venom GT. And the US manufacturer has bold ambitions for the Venom F5 - it claims 290mph could be on the cards. While we’re of the view that the race to the top is largely academic (anything over 200mph is as good as impossible, even on derestricted autobahns), it’s still an eye-grabbing headline.
