Even as it shrinks its North American product portfolio, General Motors is negotiating with Toyota Motor Corp. to determine a new GM product to be jointly produced at the automakers' 50-50 joint venture, New United Motor Manufacturing Inc. A GM spokesman said that, if successful, the negotiations would result in a new model for one of GM's surviving brands -- Chevrolet, Buick, GMC or Cadillac.

Lewis Hamilton takes pole for tomorrow’s Brazil Grand Prix in Sao Paulo with Jenson Button alongside as the 2012 F1 season reaches a climax. The 2012 Brazilian Grand Prix at the Interlagos circuit in Sao Paulo is supposed to be all about Sebastian Vettel in the Red Bull going head to head with Fernando Alonso in the Ferrari for the 2012 F1 Drivers World Title. Kia wil preview the Kia Ray Concept plug-in hybrid at the Chicago Motor Show next month Yes, the Detroit Motor Show is only just about done, but waiting in the wings is the rather less fancy Chicago Motor Show (although they probably won’t thank us for describing it as such). But despite Chicago being a lower key affair than Detroit they will still get their share of new stuff. Well, not necessarily new (we reported that North America gets the BMW Alpina B7 which will debut at Chicago) but certainly new to the US.
