Jaguar cool in white at L.A. Auto Show with C-X16 & XKR-S Convertible

Thu, 17 Nov 2011

Jaguar at the LA Auto Show with a brace of white cats Jaguar may not be going to the Detroit Motor Show in January (forsaking it for Delhi) but it’s put on a show in Los Angeles with a new white version of the Jaguar C-X16 Concept (XE) and the new XKR-S Convertible. The Jaguar C-X16 – which looks set to be the Jaguar XE when it arrives – conspires to look even more production-ready at LA than it already did at Frankfurt despite, as far as we can tell, nothing more than a new coat of paint. Some of the elements that seem unlikely to make it in to production – such as the rear hatch which opens E-Type like and the ultra-modern interior – are still present, yet on the C-X16 they seem to fit; it would be a shame to see them go for the production XE.

Porsche Panamera Turbo S (2013) pictures, specs, and price

Fri, 01 Nov 2013

By Ollie Kew First Official Pictures 01 November 2013 11:00 Four years after hitting the showrooms, Porsche’s love-or-loathe it Panamera limousine is still trying to outrun jibes about its controversial looks. If any model stands a chance, it’s the new Panamera Turbo S, which has received a healthy power increase for its facelifted iteration. The new Panamera Turbo S is the most powerful mass production Porsche currently on sale – only 918 units of the 918 Spyder hybrid supercar are being built, so we won’t count that.

Concept Car of the Week: Mazda RX500 (1970)

Thu, 30 Jan 2014

Developed by the Toyo Kogyo Company's advanced design and engineering team, the Mazda RX-500 was described as a ‘mobile test bed for high-speed safety'. Looking at its design, the team's childlike enthusiasm has shone through, resulting in a very cool concept.  From the rakish front to the wraparound windscreen and on to the bread van rear, everything communicates high-tech and ‘70's futurism while also channeling a little of the Star Wars X-Wing. Thanks to plastic body panels, the concept weighs only 850kg and is powered by a 491cc rotary engine delivering 247bhp fitted behind the cabin, in front of the rear axle.
