Has Chris Evans bought a McLaren F1?
Tue, 18 Sep 2012The rumour on the grapevine this morning is that Radio 2 man and Ferrari nut, Chris Evans, has traded a Ferrari to buy a McLaren F1 Chris Evans is known for many things; Radio 2 presenter, doting dad, one-time enfant terrible of TV, creator of CarFest and, perhaps most of all, the most high-profile collector of classic Ferraris in the UK. But the word on the grapevine this morning is that Chris has chopped in a Ferrari – and we don’t know which of his Ferraris – to buy one of the 64 McLaren F1 supercars in existence. If he has, and we’re digging for confirmation, then he’s obviously been listening to the advice a number of experts at the top end of the classic car world who believe the ‘next’ Ferrari 250 GTO (a car Chris owns) will be the McLaren F1.
Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4 now on sale – UK prices and specs
Sat, 10 Sep 2011Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4 - now up for grabs in the UK We’re big fans of the Peugeot 3008, even if we’re not the biggest fans of hybrids. But, as hybrids go, the Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4 does seem to offer the best of all worlds. Instead of being a hybrid car designed to polish the green halo of owners, the 3008 HYbrid is, first and foremost, perhaps the best of the mid-sized crossovers.
VW Touareg BlueMotion hits the UK
Fri, 12 Jun 2009Volkswagen has announced the VW Touareg BlueMotion for the UK Offering improved economy and lower emissions, the Touareg BlueMotion manages to drop in to a lower Co2 band by emitting 219g/km (a reduction from 244g/km on the V6 TDi) and it delivers 34mpg as opposed to 30.4mpg on the V7 TDi. These improvements have been achieved by the usual ECU tweaking, low rolling resistance tyres, some aerodynamic tweaks and a lower ride height (exactly the same sort of stuff that Ford has done on the EConetic range). And the penalty for the lower emissions and better economy is very slight, with the Touareg BlueMotion still managing the 0-60mph in 8.5 seconds and a top speed of 126mph.
