'Solid start' for car manufacturers

A total of 128,620 cars were produced in the UK last month - just 0.3% down on the January 2013 figure, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) said. The award for 'Car Design of the Year 2006 - Production' went to the design team of the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione. Antonio Bravalle, CEO of Alfa Romeo, accepted the award together with Daniele Gaglione, exterior designer and Giovanni Pizzi, interior designer.
