Desperately seeking Toyota Carina E
Fri, 30 Nov 2012It’s 20 years next month since Toyota opened its Burnaston Plant in the UK, and they’re desperately seeking the earliest Carina E built in 1992. Twenty years ago next month, in December 1992, Toyota started producing cars in the UK in a new plant at Burnaston in Derbyshire. And with such a milestone looming, Toyota are keen to celebrate.
How will you get to work in the year 2030?
Wed, 08 Oct 2014Imagine a future where New Jersey adopts mass public transit and on-demand jitneys; Boston becomes hyper-dense and walking becomes the primary means of transport; Atlanta disperses even further and relies on solar power, electric cars and Google connected technologies to manage mobility; and Los Angeles tries autonomous cars, but finds the transition difficult, and its gridlock even worse. These are the scenarios proposed in a new study by New York University's Rudin Center for Transport Policy and Management. The report, which proposes scenarios rather than making predictions about the future of transportation in the US, repeatedly points to connected car technologies, autonomous cars and logistics networks as driving forces in regional mobility solutions.
One in five suffers 'car envy'
Tue, 21 Jan 2014DRIVERS in the UK are more likely to give way to classic or unusual cars such as a Citroen 2CV or Volkswagen Beetle, but one in five also admits they are less likely to be courteous to large 4x4s due to car envy, according to a survey. Nearly a half (47%) of UK motorists say they leave more space between their car and the one in front if the car ahead is driven by an elderly driver. Others (5%) admit to trying to slow down boy racers if they see the driver is wearing a baseball cap and is a young male.
