AUCTION GOES BANANAS FOR CLASSIC VW
Thu, 10 Oct 2013A VINTAGE 1950s Volkswagen Beetle owned by a pensioner will go under the hammer at an auction later this month. The classic car, which has picked up a number of awards, is expected to fetch around £9,000 when it appears alongside a selection of rare art and antiques in the McTear's Collectables sale in Glasgow on September 29. The 1953 Beetle, which is a 1200 Deluxe model, has been in the hands of 72-year-old Willie Black since 1966, the same year that VW gave it the Best Beetle in Britain accolade.
Fiat 500 – kind to animals and the environment!
Tue, 30 Jun 2009Not just a Fiat 500 crash - a Fiat Panda crash too! But Fiat is really on a roll at the moment, and has obviously taken as much care with its Ad Agency as it has with its strategy to take over the car world. The result is a set of adverts that promote the safety of the little Fiat 500 and the environmental impact of the Fiat range, in a set of creative ads featuring a Fiat 500 crash test involving a Giant Panda, a Walrus and a Penguin.
It looks like Aston Martin could be getting AMG/Mercedes platforms too
Wed, 30 Oct 2013Mercedes/AMG platforms would make the Lagonda SUV a reality We’d been expecting Aston Martin to get access to Mercedes platforms ever since the Lagonda SUV – based on the underpinnings of the Mercedes GL - arrived in all its ‘beauty’ in 2009. The Lagonda SUV was met with wails of anguish from lovers of Aston Martin’s timeless beauty but, despite the horror at the looks of the SUV, the prospect that Aston Martin could be heading down a collaboration route with Mercedes was welcome. It was welcome because without the support of a major car maker – and access to its technology – Aston Martin would have little chance of a bright future; there is no way a minnow like Aston Martin could afford the development cost of new engines and platforms.
