Antique Automobile Club of America displays car collecting and its finest in Hershey

Fri, 22 Oct 2010

Searching for vintage car parts, literature, gas station collectables, or even a nice old car? The best place to look is the annual Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) Fall National Meet, better known as “Hershey.” Now in its 55th year, it's the world's largest old car gathering, with an 1,800-car concours, more than 1,000 cars for sale in the “car corral,” and, best of all, an astounding 9,000 flea market spaces, chock full of more automotive artifacts than you can imagine, all scattered in no particular order on 85-plus acres--that's nearly 90 football fields--or “22 miles of aisles,” as Hershey devotees say. It takes a lot of walking, but walk we did for four days, for a close-up of this fascinating offshoot of the old-car hobby.

Cadillac plans dealer, consumer support for CUE infotainment system

Wed, 09 May 2012

General Motors is taking a page from Apple's Genius Bar tech-support program as its Cadillac brand rolls out a new infotainment system. GM is requiring Cadillac dealers to designate two employees as certified CUE specialists--one in sales, the other in service--as experts to walk customers through the system known as the Cadillac User Experience, or CUE. GM also plans to hire 25 service representatives that it will scatter across its largest markets to field questions from both dealers and customers.

As Orson Welles reminds us above, French champagne has always been celebrated for its excellence. And fermented grape products are as indelible a signifier of Gallic culture as fine cheese, very fast trains and the hydropneumatic suspension. But the enjoyment of a tipple involves responsibility, something that alcohol consumption isn't always conducive to.
