Ford Escape recall addresses door handle issue
Wed, 14 May 2014Ford is recalling Escape SUVs from the 2013 and 2014 model years for a problem that can make the doors difficult to close or -- more ominously -- can cause the doors to open while driving. A total of 581,986 SUVs made between October 5, 2013, and April 10, 2014, are affected; Ford blames the recall on assembly misalignment between the exterior door handle and the door outer panel. The danger of this assembly issue involves the possibility of an unbelted passenger falling out of the SUV, though Ford has not indicated that any such incident has occurred.
Range Rover Sport desert-bashing exploits now on video
Fri, 13 Dec 2013The new Range Rover Sport demolished the Empty Quarter Last month we reported on an adventure for the Range Rover Sport (to add to its recent Pikes Peak jaunt), with Land Rover taking the new Sport off to the Empty Quarter Desert in Saudi Arabia (which also runs through Oman, the United Arab Emirates and Yemen) to see if they could cross it in a day. The Empty Quarter – the largest sand desert in the world – has endless miles (well, 500 miles) of hostile sand and dunes and temperatures as high as 50C – so it was quite a task. Land Rover enlisted Dakar Rally man Moi Torrallardona to take the driver’s seat and he managed to take the RRS through the Empty quarter in just 10 hours 22 minutes at an average speed of 51.7 mph.
Volvo XC60 – Star of New Moon
Thu, 12 Nov 2009The Volvo XC60 stars in 'New Moon' Product placement can work with cars in big films. Just look at what the original James Bond films did for Aston Martin, from the DB5 in Goldfinger to the DBS in Casino Royale. Then there’s the Mustang in Bullet, the VW Beetle in the Herbie films, and let’s not forget the Mini in the Italian Job.
