In 1960 Bill Colgan operated a shop with 5 employees doing custom auto and boat upholstery. One day a group of engineers brought him a ragged piece of canvas with sewn-in wooden slats, rubber bands, crude hooks and other miscellaneous innovations. They told him it was a protective cover used by a German OE for road testing new cars and asked him to redesign it.

After spending about as much time road testing as sewing, he finalized his design and called it “Steinschlagshutzshulle”. Dissected, the word means, stone/strike/shield, and for short he tagged it “Bra”, pioneering a product category that’s still going strong 50 years later!

Covercraft acquired Colgan Custom in 2009, committed to continuing the tradition of design and manufacturing excellence Colgan Bra’s are known for – setting standards by which others are measured. Still Made in USA using premium Haartz vinyl, new applications and patterns are added weekly.

Fiat 500 Cabrio hits the US

Sat, 16 Apr 2011

The Fiat 500 Cabrio hits the US for Spring Actually, we’re not completely convinced that the Fiat 500 cabrio (that’s Fiat 500 Convertible for those of us on the old continent who prefer real words)  has hit the US. Because although Fiat has told us the 500 Cabrio hits the US ‘Just in time for spring’, it doesn’t say when US customers will start to get cars. Which may be a bit nit-picking, but there doesn’t seem much point saying it’s hitting in time for Spring when Spring’s a third done and there’s still no date.

Jaguar XFR-S Sportbrake OFFICIALLY revealed. Price from £82,495

Tue, 25 Feb 2014

The Jaguar XFR-S Sportbrake (pictured) has now been officially revealed The new Jaguar XFR-S Sportbrake made an early appearance yesterday after the first photo leaked out, but this morning Jaguar has done the decent think and made it official. The XFR-S Sportbrake is a car we all hoped Jaguar would put at the top of their Sportbrake range, but it will have taken two full years since the debut of the XF Sportbrake to add a model with the supercharged V8. But rather than making a straightforward XFR Sportbrake, Jaguar has gone the whole hog – just as it did with the F-Type R Coupe - and skipped the 504bhp version of the Supercharged V8 and jumped straight to the full-fat XFR-S with 542bhp.

School run puts pressure on parents

PRESSURED PARENTS are often operating the school run in a rush, according to a survey. As many as 42% of parents said feeling rushed was their main school-run worry, while 20% got distracted while driving their offspring to school.
