This weekend has seen the Goodwood Festival of Speed weave its petrolhead goodness for the assembled throngs on the south coast, so we thought, especially for those that didn’t make it to car heaven, we should give you a taste of what you missed. Audi R8 e-tron: Killed off before it launches?

It’s being reported that the electric Audi R8 e-tron is close to being killed off before production starts, as Audi question its viability. But it now looks like Audi has finally woken up and seen the light and they have put the R8 e-tron plans on hold indefinitely as they realise there is just no market for an electric car, never mind an electric supercar. Car and Driver are reporting that Audi’s new head of R&D - Wolfgang Dürheime – has halted all work on the R8 e-tron and it seems highly likely the project will be scrapped altogether.

James Bond Car Exhibition 2012 Nothing has defined the James Bond franchise – the film franchise, that is – in quite the same way as its cars. So what better way than to have the biggest James Bond car exhibition – in the world – to celebrate fifty years of James Bond films? That’s exactly what is being planned by the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu and EON Productions (they of the James Bond films), who plan to exhibit more James Bond cars in one place than ever before – and for the whole of 2012.
