Core Shifters EXCLUSIVE!!  Short throw shifter equivalent to discontinued Hurst # 391-5045.  This is a custom Core Shifters base that contains a readily available Hurst Billet Plus component set (supplied by Hurst) inside a custom housing (not produced by Hurst, but 100% made in USA).  It functions exactly the same as any regular Hurst Billet Plus shifter, but is configured for the applications below (which Hurst no longer supports).  It includes the Hurst chrome stick and Hurst engraved black knob as found in the original kits.  It also includes a dust boot cover, mounting bolts, and installation instructions.  Throw reduction should be around 25-30%.

**** This kit includes 5 speed knob by default.  IF YOU HAVE A 4 speed - please indicate w/ payment! (4 speed knobs will not say Hurst on sides) ****

This shifter kit ONLY FITS T4 4 speed & T5 5 speed trans w/ "5 bolt" shifter base bolt pattern in the following models:

  • 1982-1983 Jeep CJ series (CJ5, CJ7, CJ8) w/ 4 or 6 cyl engine
  • 1984-1986 Jeep CJ7 & CJ8 w/ 6 cyl engines
  • early 1984 Jeep CJ7 & CJ8 w/ 4 cyl engine - check first, most have AX4 or AX5
  • NOTE:  Does NOT FIT optional T176 4 speed trans - shift tower is integrated into cover, not removable
  • Does NOT FIT later models (AX4, AX5, BA10, AX15, NV1500, or NV3550).  See my other listings for AX4, AX5, AX15, NV1500, & NV3550 shifters.

Similar shifter available for Jeep Cherokee & AMC Eagle - see it in my other listings (some parts are different).

I sell generic rubber floor boots and shifter pivot cup bushings separately in my other listings - shipping charges on those items will be refunded when shipped with a shifter kit.

This Core Shifter shares many of the same superior features & components found in Hurst Billet Plus Shifters, integrated into a unique, exclusive base assembly:

  • Forged heat-treated billet steel gear selector
  • Precision-ground stainless steel pivot ring
  • Self-centering cross-gate bias springs with heat treated spring seats
  • Glass-reinforced polyamide pivot cup insert with steel wear clips
  • Rubber oil control seal with steel retaining ring
  • 6061-T6 extruded aluminum housing with Spirolox steel support ring
  • Phosphate-coated laser-cut steel base-plate and cover
  • Vibration-resistant serrated flange head steel retaining bolts
  • Rubber dust cover boot
  • Pan-head allen bolts with toothed lockwashers to mount stick
  • Traditional forged billet steel triple chrome-plated Hurst stick
  • Classic Hurst engraved shift knob
  • High quality and outstanding value!

Stick and knob info:

Supplied stick is Hurst # 538-6900, chrome plated steel, 13.5" tall, curves forward 3.5" but then curves back to end with knob directly above stub. No sideways bend (however base stub is angled 14 degrees toward driver like OE meaning entire stick is at 14 degree angle sideways - straight stub base available by request). Knob is Hurst # 163-0125, black with 5 speed shift pattern on top and "Hurst" on sides, 1 7/8" diameter, jam nut included.

Nissan launches new Note with digital flipbook

Tue, 04 Sep 2012

Nissan has developed an inventive way of advertising its new Note hatchback on its Japanese website – using a digital flipbook called ‘Long scroll, Long Drive, Long Life'. The start of the flipbook sees a couple getting into the Note and as you scroll down, the car begins to weave through Tokyo roads, while information at the side of the screen tells you in detail about the car's features and performance. MINI Traveller set to return

MINI Traveller set to return You’d forgotten about the MINI Traveller, hadn’t you? Or maybe, as we foolishly did, you assumed that as the Countryman and Traveller were the same thing MINI would leave the Traveller moniker in the history books. No chance.

Saab: GM decides Vladimir Antonov is a good guy after all

Wed, 19 Jan 2011

Vladimir Antonov - Not a 'Red under the Bed' after all. Some detected the odour of McCarthyism when GM told Spyker there could be no deal on Saab unless it showed major backer Vladimir Antonov the door. Which seemed a bit harsh; after all, there seemed no evidence to support accusations of links to organised crime by Vladimir or Convers Bank.
