*** This listing is ONLY for people doing custom installations & trans swaps.  It is not intended for any OE application (see my other listings for complete kits where available). ***

Core / Hurst short throw shifter base that replaces the stock shifter (at the tail location) on the following models with T56 6 speed:

  • 1992-2007 Dodge Viper
  • 2000 Mustang Cobra R
  • 2003-2004 Mustang Cobra
  • 2004-2006 Dodge Ram SRT-10
  • 2004-2008 Ford Falcon & FPV BA-BF (Australian)
  • 2008-2013 Ford Falcon FG XR models (Australian)

Also fits TR6060 found in:

  • 2008-2010 Dodge Viper
  • no other TR6060 (see my other listings for forward mount)

This shifter base mounts on a 4-bolt pattern that is approximately 2.88" wide x 3.44" long and the center of the stub pivot ball is approx 1.25" below the flange.  It only fits in the tail location where the OE shifter is mounted.  For forward mount conversion, see my other listings.

Does NOT fit the following (these applications use the "forward location" mount, see my other listings):

  • 2004-2007 Cadillac CTS-V
  • 2006+ Holden Commodore VE
  • 2007+ Mustang GT500
  • 2009 Pontiac G8 GXP

  • 2010+ Camaro

Does NOT fit the following (these applications use a tail mount shifter with a longer bolt pattern, see my other listings):

  • 1993-2002 Camaro / Firebird
  • 2004-2006 Pontiac GTO & Holden Monaro
  • 2005-2006 Chevy SSR truck

This is a custom shifter base composed of readily available Hurst Billet Plus component set (supplied by Hurst) inside a custom housing (not produced by Hurst, but 100% made in USA).  It functions like any regular Hurst Billet Plus shifter, but in a configuration Hurst does not offer.  Obviously throw reduction is subject to the OE equipment being compared, but this shifter was designed to yield about 35% throw reduction over an existing direct fit OE unit.  I ALSO OFFER A "SST" SHORTER THROW UNIT ~45-50% REDUCTION FOR $10 MORE (best for taller sticks)- EMAIL TO REQUEST.  You can mount any Hurst bolt-on stick to this base.  I sell many in my other listings.  This base includes mounting hardware, dust boot, and instructions.  It does not have stops and does not need them; all modern internal rail trans have internal stops.  However if you prefer, stops can be added for $12 more, email me to request.

    Fulcrum options:

    • 2.53" fulcrum (default offered in this listing) is best for 8-10" stick length.  Lower stick mount bolt hole is 3.07" above base flange.
    • 3.03" fulcrum ($10 extra) for 10"+ stick length.  Lower stick mount bolt hole is 3.57" above base flange.
    • 3.22" fulcrum ($15 extra) for 10"+ stick length, with higher stick mounting point to fit dust boot under stick.  Lower stick mount bolt hole is 4.58" above base flange.
    • 3.66" fulcrum ($20 extra) is an option for 14"+ stick length, but stick mounts at 14 degree angle toward left.  Lower stick mount bolt hole is 5.38" above base flange.
    • For all optional fulcrums, please EMAIL PRIOR TO PURCHASE!

If you are doing a trans swap and not sure which Hurst chrome stick you need for your custom application, please see:  http://www.core-shifters.com/hurst2004sticks.pdf

Redesigned Ford Focus expected to get 40 mpg on the highway

    Wed, 20 Oct 2010

The redesigned 2012 Ford Focus will get an estimated 40 mpg in highway driving with an all-aluminum 2.0-liter engine mated to a six-speed, dual-dry-clutch automatic transmission. The normally aspirated engine combines variable camshaft timing and high-pressure direct fuel injection to crank out 160 hp and 146 lb-ft of torque. That compares with 140 hp and 136 lb-ft from the aluminum 2.0-liter engine used in the current-generation Focus.

    Car Designers Blackmailed

    Tue, 12 Feb 2008

A London court has found former design student Guy Lloyd-Parker guilty of blackmailing US car designers. The London College of Fashion graduate had claimed that 95 car design sketches were stolen from him by two college lecturers in 1994, eventually resurfacing as final designs in the form of the Audi TT, BMW Z3, Mazda RX-8 and the Volvo XC90. Lloyd-Parker, having failed to successfully sue the college, began sending menacing letters to California-based Volvo Design Director Geza Loczi, former BMW and Aston Martin designer Henrik Fisker, and ex-Mazda designer Tsutomu Matano demanding £90,000.

Video: J Mays walks us around Ford EcoSport

    Wed, 18 Jan 2012

Earlier this month, Ford unveiled its EcoSport compact SUV at the Delhi Auto Expo. The B-segment crossover is a key component in the brand's ‘One Ford' global strategy, underlined by the fact it was designed in Brazil under the direction of Joa Marcos De Oliveira Ramos. Here Ford's Group Vice President of Design and Chief Creative Officer, J Mays, talks us through the five design elements of the car.
