*** This listing is ONLY for people doing custom installations & trans swaps.  It is not intended for any OE application (see my other listings for complete kits where available). ***

Core / Hurst short throw shifter base to convert from remote OE cantilevered shifter to direct mount (mounts in place of OE linkage cover - see transmission pic).  Direct fit to T56 & TR6060 transmissions from the following sources:

  • 2004-2007 Cadillac CTS-V
  • 2010+ Camaro (V8)
  • 2009 Pontiac G8 GXP
  • 2014+ Chevrolet SS
  • 2007+ Mustang GT500
  • 2007+ Holden Commodore VE & VF (Australian)
  • 2007+ Vauxhall VXR8
  • does NOT actually FIT in any of these cars!  It is for people putting these transmissions into other (older) cars!
  • PLEASE confirm this base will work for your custom application - understand the shifter stick will come through the floor directly above the linkage cover!
  • also fits T56 Magnum & Magnum XL aftermarket transmissions - forward location only, confirm internal linkage receptacle is present

This base will also fit the T56 & TR6060 models below, but ONLY in the forward location (aka inspection port) which requires internal modifications to relocate shifter (parts source unknown - IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO REPLICATE ALL NECESSARY FUNCTIONALITY WITH OE TR6060 PARTS).  This base does NOT fit at the tail location where the OE shifter mounts:

  • 2009-2013 Cadillac CTS-V
  • 1993-2002 Camaro / Firebird
  • 2004-2006 Pontiac GTO
  • 2005-2006 Chevy SSR truck
  • 2000 Mustang Cobra R
  • 2003-2004 Mustang Cobra
  • 1992-2006 Dodge Viper
  • 2008-2010 Dodge Viper
  • 2013 SRT Viper
  • 2004-2006 Dodge Ram SRT-10
  • 2009+ Challenger (V8) -  forward location ONLY - DOES NOT fit tail location where OE linkage enters trans!  See my other listings for the Challenger tail mount base.
  • 2004-2008 Ford Falcon & FPV BA-BF (Australian)
  • 1998-2008 Holden Commodore VT-VZ (Australian)
  • 2001-2006 Holden Monaro V2/VZ (Australian)
  • NOTE:  Conversion parts from Keisler & thegearbox.org are NOT equivalent to the OE TR6060 linkage receptacle.  McLeod receptacle dimensions unknown.
  • I offer a different stub depth for these conversions - email to request
  • does NOT actually FIT in any of these cars!  It is for people putting these transmissions into other (older) cars!

For most of the above, I offer shifter bases to replace the OE shifter at the tail location in my other listings.

This shifter base mounts on a 4-bolt pattern that is approximately 2.88" wide x 3.65" long and the center of the stub pivot ball is approx 1.52" below the flange.  It only fits in the forward location as discussed above.  For tail location bases, see my other listings - these vary by model - T56 shifters are NOT universal!

This is a custom shifter base composed of readily available Hurst Billet Plus component set (supplied by Hurst) inside a custom housing (not produced by Hurst, but 100% made in USA).  It functions like any regular Hurst Billet Plus shifter but in a configuration which Hurst does not offer.  Obviously throw reduction is subject to the OE equipment being compared, but this shifter was designed to yield about 35% throw reduction over an existing direct fit OE unit.  You can mount any Hurst bolt-on stick to this base.  I sell many in my other listings.  This base has a 2.53" fulcrum height, ideal for 8-10" long sticks.  For taller sticks, email me to request a taller fulcrum.  This base includes mounting hardware, dust boot, and instructions.  It does not have stops and does not need them; all modern internal rail trans have internal stops.  However if you prefer, stops can be added for $20 more, email me to request.

Fulcrum options:

  • 2.53" fulcrum (default offered in this listing) is best for 8-10" stick length.  Lower stick mount bolt hole is 3.07" above base flange.
  • 3.03" fulcrum ($10 extra) for 10"+ stick length.  Lower stick mount bolt hole is 3.57" above base flange.
  • 3.22" fulcrum ($15 extra) for 10"+ stick length, with higher stick mounting point to fit dust boot under stick.  Lower stick mount bolt hole is 4.58" above base flange.
  • 3.66" fulcrum ($20 extra) is an option for 14"+ stick length, but stick mounts at 14 degree angle toward left.  Lower stick mount bolt hole is 5.38" above base flange.
  • 2.13" fulcrum ($10 extra) is available for sticks up to 7", but stick mounts at 11 degree angle toward left.  Lower stick mount bolt hole is 3.52" above base flange.
  • For all optional fulcrums, please EMAIL PRIOR TO PURCHASE!

If you are doing a trans swap and not sure which Hurst chrome stick you need for your custom application, please see:  http://www.core-shifters.com/hurst2004sticks.pdf

This Core Shifter shares many of the same superior features & components found in Hurst Billet Plus Shifters, integrated into a unique, exclusive base assembly:

McLaren P1 almost sold out

Fri, 30 Aug 2013

The McLaren P1 (pictured) is almost sold out The last time McLaren decided to build a supercar to beat all supercars was with the McLaren F1 but, despite it’s huge ability and now iconic status – and huge value – they had to give up making it after just 64 cars as they couldn’t find buyers. Fortunately – for McLaren are a bit stretched non all fronts at the moment – it seems that history isn’t repeating itself with the new McLaren P1 as reports today suggest the P1 is all but sold out. Autocar are reporting there are just a handful of the 375 P1s left to sell, with the P1 allocation for America, the Middle East and Asia already sold out and just a handful of cars left for Europe and other parts of the world.

1,088-hp electric Concept One nears production

Wed, 30 Apr 2014

We haven't heard much about the Rimac Concept One lately, but that could be about to change. The Croatian-born electric supercar is back in the news this week after its parent company landed an $11-million investment. The Concept One is the brainchild of 26-year-old CEO Mate Rimac, who claims he didn't want to build the best electric car in the world.

MG3: Shanghai Motor Show

Sat, 20 Apr 2013

The MG3 SuperMini for Europe is a titivated version of the MG3 the Chinese market gets, complete with a decent dose of flair and additional equipment and cosmetic enhancements to make it more appealing to Western tastes. That means hockey stick shaped LED running lights across the range, black A-pillars, mesh grill (well, mesh slit at the front), dual colour side skirts, dual colour alloys and a rear valance MG say was inspired by generations of MG sports cars. Although only 4 metres long, MG say the MG3 offer space inside that matches or beats all competition (room for  four six-footers they reckon) and gets a ‘rolled and raised’ dash that accentuates the space on offer and sculpted backs to the front seats to help space in the rear.
