Core Shifters EXCLUSIVE!!  This is a custom short throw shifter equivalent to Hurst #391-0204 with a Core Shifters base that contains the same Hurst "Billet/Plus 2" component set (supplied by Hurst) but inside a custom housing (not produced by Hurst, but 100% made in USA).  It functions exactly the same as the "regular" Hurst shifter but costs less!  Kit includes stick mounting bolts, two boot grommets, zip ties, base gasket, and installation instructions.

This shifter kit only fits the following applications with MT82 6 speed:

  • 2011-2014 Mustang V6, GT, & Boss 302
  • does NOT fit GT500
  • 30% throw reduction
  • Redesigned spring-loaded reverse lock-out - you no longer push down to enter reverse, just pull to the side
  • 1-2 gate bias spring for improved 2-3 shift
  • Easy installation - entirely from inside vehicle (no work underneath)
  • Also available with the short black stick (238-0050 for use with stock knob) for $20 less (no knob) - email to request
  • Also available with Hurst HardDrive stick (pistol grip style) for $80 more (no knob) - email to request

NOTE: This shifter uses the stock shifter mounting bolts.  If you presently have an aftermarket shifter and do not have the stock mounting bolts, please request bolts with payment.  Otherwise, this kit comes with everything else needed for installation (beyond simple tools).

This Core Shifter has many superior features integrated into a unique, exclusive base assembly:

  • CNC-machined billet steel gear selector w/ forged upper section and black e-coat finish
  • Spherical pivot mechanism with a centralized spring-loaded, self-lubricating low friction polymer interface
  • CNC-machined 6061-T6 aluminum housing
  • Phospate-coated laser-cut steel base-plate (almost twice as thick as the regular Hurst unit)
  • Vibration-resistant serrated flange head steel retaining bolts
  • Simple, effective, and durable
  • High quality and outstanding value!

STICK INFO:  Hurst # 538-7201, chrome plated steel, 6" tall, bends 1/2" rearward.  3/8"-16 knob threads.  All Hurst sticks have 3/8" holes spaced apart 7/8" on center.  Stick is also sold alone in my other listings (not compatible with stock shifter).  Knobs with the stock 12mm threads are not compatible with this stick, but I offer this kit with a plain black stick (238-0050) in the stock knob thread size ($20 less, no knob).  Also available with Hurst HardDrive stick 538-8655 ($80 more, no knob).

KNOB INFO:  White engraved knob with 6 speed pattern on top and plain sides as shown.  1 7/8" diameter with 3/8"-16 threaded brass insert, jam nut included.

Also available with black knob instead, request with payment.

First Sight: Smart Fortwo and Forfour

Mon, 21 Jul 2014

"Dress-down Wednesday," remarked a colleague as Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche walked on stage wearing jeans and no tie. While it was a hot day in Berlin, Zetsche's excuse for his informal attire was the occasion – the new Smart is here. Its prospective owners, he explained – young, urban consumers with an active lifestyle, not the typical members of corporate Germany – adhere to a different, if similarly rigid etiquette.

BMW reveals ferocious new M3 and M4

Thu, 12 Dec 2013

IF YOU’RE no fan of Top Gear-style wheel-spinning, tyre-smoking oversteer, then it’s probably best to look away now, because BMW has unveiled the new M3 and M4. Essentially the same car underneath, the main differences come in the number of doors and the suspension settings, with the M3 built as a four-door, slightly more forgiving saloon and the M4 as a harder-edged two-door coupe. But both will go very sideways, if that’s the sort of thing that revs your engine, thanks to a shared 425bhp six-cylinder engine that sends all that juicy power to the rear wheels.
