Core Shifters EXCLUSIVE!!  Short throw shifter equivalent to discontinued Hurst 391-0113.  This is a custom Core Shifters base that contains a readily available Hurst Billet Plus component set inside a custom housing.  It functions exactly the same as any regular Hurst Billet Plus shifter, but is configured for the NV3500 trans (which Hurst no longer supports).  This mechanism is smoother and more robust than the original Comp Plus design.  It includes the Hurst chrome stick 538-8009 and Hurst engraved black knob as found in the original kits.  It also includes a dust boot cover, mounting bolts, "mini boot" grommet to seal around stock floor boot, installation instructions, and a pivot cup.  Throw reduction should be around 20%.

This shifter kit ONLY FITS New Venture 3500 (NV3500) 5 speed trans, and ONLY the years mentioned here:

  • 1998-2003 Chevrolet S-10 / GMC Sonoma pickup truck
  • 1998-2005 Chevrolet Blazer / GMC Jimmy SUV
  • 1998-2000 Isuzu Hombre pickup truck
  • Fits 2wd & 4wd models, all years
  • V6 engine only
  • DOES NOT FIT 4 cyl w/ NV1500 (see my other listings)
  • For other model years - do not buy this listing - see my other listings for the correct kits or email me to request
  • Core Shifters also offers a shifter for 2004-2012 Chevy Colorado & GMC Canyon trucks!

*** Note - if your NV3500 transmission is not original, it could require a different shifter base.  There are at least 3 different NV3500 shifter bases which vary based on shifter cup receptacle height (the part in the trans that the shifter engages).  This one is for a mounting flange-to-receptacle top measurement of about 7/8" (see pic), which should fit all 1990-2005 S10 NV3500 (within these applications different chrome sticks are used).  If you need one of the others instead, email me.  If you install the wrong one it will bind or not fit.  ***

This Core Shifter shares many of the same superior features & components found in Hurst Billet Plus Shifters, integrated into a unique, exclusive base assembly:

  • Forged heat-treated billet steel gear selector
  • Precision-ground stainless steel pivot ring
  • Self-centering cross-gate bias springs with heat treated spring seats

Starting Out: CDN launches Car Design Glossary

Drawing is the basic language of designers, and is the time-honoured way in which a designer will communicate an idea. However, designers are often required to describe or explain their designs - and the work of others - in words, and for this, they need a vocabulary. The vocabulary they use is one whose origins stretch back to another era and to different disciplines, and which, with the now multi-cultural nature of the profession and advances in computer technology, is still growing.

Apple and Ferrari—What could be better?

Thu, 08 Nov 2012

Recently a press release popped into my email (remember when we used to say “came across my desk”?) that said Eddy Cue, Apple's head of Internet software and services, has joined Ferrari's board of directors. The statement said while on the board Cue, a Ferrari owner, will “aid with his experience in Internet-based commerce.” My two cents: It's a brilliant move for both parties, and the ramifications could be huge. Think about it: Does this mean Apple wants to make stuff for cars?

Concept Car of the Week: Ford Mustang I (1962)

Fri, 07 Jun 2013

Influenced by science fiction and Space exploration in the early sixties, Ford Motor Corporation developed a series of research vehicles to test innovative layouts, experimental technologies and futuristic styling on such radical concepts as the X2000, Levacar Mach 1 and the Gyron that still captivate the imagination. In parallel, Ford's advanced styling studio was also working on a more rational project that could influence production models to compete with GM Corvair Monza. Stylists and engineers came up with a high-performance 2-seater vehicle with the engine placed in front of the rear axle for better aerodynamics and improved weight distribution.
