The Land Rover LRX Concept, which was first revealed looks like the perfect route to go. But after a flurry of showings Land Rover has gone a little quiet on the project. It is reckoned that the project will cost Land Rover, and its parent Tata, around £300 million to get production ready.

The MINI Beachcoimber will be one of the stars of the NAIAS Next week sees the start of the 2010 Detroit Motor Show – the first big Motor Show of the season. And there will be lots of new stuff – and some not so new – and maybe even a surprise or two we don’t yet know about. LENNON'S FIRST CAR UNDER THE HAMMER

THE FIRST car bought by John Lennon after he passed his driving test is being offered for sale at auction next month. The Ferrari 330 GT 2+2 Coupe was bought by the Beatle in 1965 and is expected to sell for between 120,000 euros (£99,987) and 170,000 euros (£141,000). Lennon's biographer, Philip Norman, described how car dealers descended on the singer's home when the news emerged that he had passed his test and offered him a "gleaming smorgasbord" of luxury cars.
