Sun, 16 May 2010Jeremy Clarkson's bachelor pad Motorhome on a Citroen CX Top Gear may turn up on our screens for just half a dozen episodes at a time. But those one hour episodes take a big chunk of the rest of the year filming, so with Top Gear off air at the moment the boys are out playing. A few weeks back they managed to cause the volcanic eruption in Iceland with May trying to rush the volcano in a Hilux with water-cooled tyres, and now the boys have been spotted in the UK with the results of their ‘Build a Motorhome’ challenge.

When we reported prices and specs last week for the new Hyundai Veloster, we were suitably impressed at what was on offer, with one exception – the engine. We’d been hoping for a little more oomph from the successor to the very good Hyundai Coupe, and we were a little disappointed that the only engine on offer was a 138bhp diesel.

Sun, 23 Oct 2011Toyota & Mercedes-Benz are the Top Global Automotive Brands 2011 Interbrand, a branding consultancy, delivers a report on the world’s brands every year, and in 2011, despite recall woes and the devastation of the Japanese Tsunami, Toyota leads the automotive brands, with luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz just behind. Interbrand uses three measures to gauge how effective a brand is – performance of branded product, the brands ability to secure earnings and the role of the brand in purchasing decisions – to come up with a chart of the top 100 world brands. At the top of the tree are companies like Coca Cola, IBM, Microsoft and Google, but car brands do well with Toyota, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Honda, VW, and Ford all making it in to the top 50.
