Is saving a few bucks really worth the cost of throwing a rod and blowing your entire engine assembly? No, it’s not!

Eagle “ESP” 3-D Rods are manufactured from a TWO-PIECE FORGING using USA 4340 Steel.  The forging process forces the grain into the shape of a connecting rod, resulting in a superior fatigue life. The rod cap is forged separately so that the grain runs perpendicular to the load forces, witch strengthens the rod. Although it is a more expensive process, all Eagles 3-D rods are forged form a much higher content of nickel & chrome, witch increases the strength & fatigue life without making the rod brittle. Dollar for dollar, Eagle rods are the best on the planet.

Eagle offers I-Beam & H-Beam rods for Chevy, Ford, Chrysler, Pontiac, and Honda.

Remember, improper torque of the rod bolts will result in premature rod failure.

BAC Mono moves to Liverpool

Wed, 10 Jul 2013

The BAC Mono with brothers Brigg & Mayor of Liverpool (pictured) The BAC Mono is in the public eye this week after its impressive performance on Top Gear, but even without the publicity from Top Gear the brothers Brigg were already doing very well with the Mono. So well, they’ve been looking for new premises to continue their growth and have settled on a move from Cheshire to Liverpool (just up the road) and a new facility on the Speke Hall Industrial Estate in South Liverpool is set to become the new home of the Mono. BAC’s new home in Speke will be up and running by the autumn, will create an additional 60 jobs in the local economy – and more in the supply chain – and is expected to turn out more than 100 Monos a year by 2015.

AutoWeek office swag: Mazda rotary-engine keychain with realistic motion

Fri, 20 May 2011

When I got the keys to our long-term 2011 Mazda 5 last week, they came with a surprise--this aluminum-and-brass keychain in the shape of a rotary-engine housing, complete with moving rotor. The rotor doesn't just rattle around or spin in a circle. Thanks to a thumbwheel on the back of the housing, coupled with a timing gear and offset crank journal, the thing actually moves in an approximation of epitrochoidal motion just like a real Wankel.

Illegal school parking 'should be fined'

Wed, 12 Feb 2014

DRIVERS who park illegally when dropping off or collecting their children from school should be fined. A large number of drivers (86%) say they agree with trials by councils to catch school run drivers who park on zig-zag lines at pedestrian crossings, even if they stop for only a few seconds. Several local councils, including Enfield in north London and York boroughs, are now using CCTV cameras to capture illegal parking.
