General Motors draws on global designers for the new Chevrolet Corvette
Mon, 08 Mar 2010For the first time, General Motors studios across the world have submitted design studies for the next-generation Chevrolet Corvette. Late last year, Ed Welburn, GM's vice president of global design, invited GM's 10 styling studios to submit design proposals. Some "were absolutely phenomenal," Welburn said.

It's not for the faint-hearted, as you can tell from the angry body addenda and huge spoilers mounted on the already monstrous coupe. The ACR bit of the name denotes it's an American Club Racer spec car - it's the first use of the badge on a Viper since 1999.

The T in MKT stands for Touring, and he says: ‘When I think of touring, I imagine long journeys in extreme comfort.’ So passengers sit in seats inspired by the first-class cabin of an aircraft, surrounded by fine wood, leather and silk. It’s guilt-free luxury, though.
