Geneva Motor Show 2007 - Preview

The 2007 Geneva Motor Show opens its doors with the media preview days starting March 6th. This year's show is set to be a vintage year for production models with a small cars such as the new Renault Twingo, Mazda2 and Skoda Fabia all being launched. Further up the scale, both Ford and Fiat will show replacements for key models - the third generation Mondeo and stunning new Bravo respectively.

Volvo makes breakthrough in battery tech

Volvo has developed a new way of ‘storing’ energy for its future electric vehicles. The Swedish firm is exploring the concept of lightweight structural energy storage components made from carbonfibre, containing “nano structured batteries and super capacitors.” This technology is said to offer a lighter, more compact solution to the problem of energy storage, potentially removing the need for the heavy, bulky batteries used in current electric vehicles. Classic Lotus Cortina owner wins £5,000 fund

A LUCKY Lotus Cortina owner has won a £5,000 prize to make improvements and restorations to his car. Pete Shaw was awarded the prize by Footman James classic car insurance at last month’s Classic Motor Show. His beloved 1966 Mk1 Airflow Lotus Cortina had been entered into the competition with much-needed work on the cards.
