Chrysler recalls Jeep Liberty for possible suspension problem

Chrysler is recalling more than 200,000 Jeep Liberty SUVs from the 2004-05 model years for a potential problem with the rear lower control arm. In states that use salt to melt ice on the roads, corrosion can cause the arm to fracture, which may lead to a crash. The vehicles in question were built between July 3, 2003, and July 14, 2005.

Honda unveils Insight Hybrid

Honda has released the first official images of the Prius-fighting Honda Insight, which is due to launch in the New Year at the Detroit Motor Show, and be in UK Car showrooms in the Spring of 2009. Honda has been sceptical about the future of the Hybrid/Electric car, and has expressed the view that it believes the long term future lies in Hydrogen powered EVs, rather than EVs per se. Volvo is currently testing in-car sensors that can monitor driver alertness -- ones that can determine if the driver is becoming tired and inattentive. A number of simple systems that basically generate warnings after a certain period of nonstop driving are now available in cars. They take into account the average speed and time elapsed since the vehicle was started.
