Porsche has dominated the rally - which runs 4,460 miles across Asia between Moscow and Ulan Bator – in recent years with its Cayenne finishing in first to third in 2007, and first to sixth in 2008. Yes. To celebrate its success Porsche will unveil a street-legal version of the car at the Paris motor show next month.

But the McLaren P1, although a direct descendant of the fable McLaren F1, didn’t have the benefit of a long history of hard-core wealthy clients to call on for its sales, so McLaren has had to wait a while to complete sales on their entire run of 375 cars. Over the last May bank holiday weekend, some 15,000 Mini fans converged on Silverstone, for a three-day festival of cars, racing and music. The company revealed three special editions: high-spec Camden and Mayfair models, plus the 211bhp World Championship 50 Edition in homage to racing team boss John Cooper.
