UNIVERSAL TACHOMETER SIGNAL INTERFACE -SGI-8

from Dakota Digital

Have you done a 1JZ, 2JZ, 4AGZE, BEAMS, or some other engine swap and lost your stock tach? This handy little piece is just what you need to get it working again. This device reads the tach signal from the new ignition system and calibrates it to whatever setting you want, and even will amplify the signal which is needed for some tachometers. We use these when swapping 1JZ or 2JZ engines into Supras, SC300s, S13s and S14s, or 4AGZE engines into Corollas, Celicas, MR2s, and so on. There are a lot of other engines swaps out there that also could benefit from this tach adapter box!

Here is Dakota Digital's Description of this item:

The SGI-8 Tachometer Interface Unit is designed to allow a factory tachometer to function accurately after performing an engine swap to an engine with a different number of cylinders or tach signal. If you are swapping out a V-6 for a V-8 and you need to recalibrate the tach signal from the V-8 to make it read accurately on the factory V-6 tachometer, the SGI-8 will do the job. The SGI-8 is capable of recalibrating tachometer signals for nearly any engine swap combination.

Product not compatible with '86-91 VW Vanagon's and other similar models.

Unit measures 4" x 2.5" x 1" and is designed to be mounted inside a vehicle.

One Lap of the Web: Senna's sweet go-kart

Fri, 16 May 2014

-- Gran Turismo has always included some, uh, unique car choices for its video games. (Sure, the Patent-Motorwagen is significant, but hot-lapping the 1-hp horseless carriage in "Gran Turismo 4" wasn't exactly riveting, unless you used cheats.) So that's why Ayrton Senna's go-kart from the 1978 World Karting Championship should be interesting -- it's nowhere near as fast as his Lotus 97T, but it shows that "Gran Turismo" wasn't kidding when developers said they wanted fans to chart the entirety of Senna's life. Plus, if you make it go 352 mph you can finally stick it to Prost.

New SEAT Leon SC (2013) revealed

Tue, 12 Feb 2013

The new SEAT Leon SC – the 3-door sibling to the Leon – has been revealed ahead of a debut at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show in March. The new SEAT Leon SC is actually a different car from the windscreen on back, with a more steeply raked front and back screens, just the two (longer) and a shorter wheelbase – by 35mm. So although at first glance the Leon SC looks like it’s just lost a pair of doors, the job is more thorough.

Renault’s All In A Twizy Over Big Screen Fame

Tue, 18 Mar 2014

HUMANS, not cars, are the usual stars of the silver screen, but Renault is clearly proud of the latest performance given by its quirky Twizy electric car. The role call of Terry Gilliam's latest project should prove familiar to film buffs - Christoph Waltz, Matt Damon, Mélanie Thierry – although not all budding critics will be up to speed on the Twizy’s current body of work. Gilliam's The Zero Theorem is the story of an eccentric and lonely IT genius, suffering from existential neurosis, and looking for the meaning of life.
