It looks like Aston Martin could be getting AMG/Mercedes platforms too
Wed, 30 Oct 2013Mercedes/AMG platforms would make the Lagonda SUV a reality We’d been expecting Aston Martin to get access to Mercedes platforms ever since the Lagonda SUV – based on the underpinnings of the Mercedes GL - arrived in all its ‘beauty’ in 2009. The Lagonda SUV was met with wails of anguish from lovers of Aston Martin’s timeless beauty but, despite the horror at the looks of the SUV, the prospect that Aston Martin could be heading down a collaboration route with Mercedes was welcome. What started out as the Porsche 901 quickly became the 911 – and wouldn’t take long to become a legend. As one of the most accomplished road-going supercars ever created, it's easy to see why the 911 is also a consummate champion in the motorsport arena – and to celebrate that fact, at Pebble Beach 2013 there was a huge array of road and race 911s, courtesy of Porsche itself along with a stack of private owners.Click through the gallery to see our pick of these great cars...
Pumped up Chevy previews new Lacetti
Thu, 07 Sep 2006By Phil McNamara Motor Industry 07 September 2006 08:47 Chevrolet has issued this sneak preview of its forthcoming family hatch – disguised as a World Touring Car. Disregard the pram handle wing, snowplough undertray and steroidal wheelarch extensions, and you have the car to replace the current Lacetti in around 2008. The production model should use GM's next-generation Delta platform, which will also underpin the next Astra and a proposed Saab hot hatch.
