MG SV returns, TF founders
Tue, 15 Apr 2008By Keith Adams (additional reporting by Russell Gowers) Motor Industry 15 April 2008 10:14 In the latest twist of the MG Rover saga, and three years after the original MG XPower SV supercar went out of production, the controversial coupe has made a surprise re-appearance. However, the likelihood of us ever seeing the reborn TF roadster seems to be receding by the week.Now known as the XPower WR, the Qvale Mangusta-based supercar has been eased back into production by William Riley – a descendant of the creators of the historic car company bearing the same name.His company, known as MG Sports and Racing Europe Limited, produces the supercharged WR, selling it for between £75,000 and £90,000 depending in specification. The rights to the car – and its badge – were bought from MG Rover administrators PricewaterhouseCoopers in 2005.
First new Saab rolls off the production line
Tue, 03 Dec 2013A NEW SAAB car has rolled off the Swedish production line for the first time in two and a half years. National Electric Vehicle Sweden, the Hong Kong-based company that bought Saab out of bankruptcy in September last year, presented its new 9-3 Aero at the factory in Trollhattan. The company, also called NEVS, aims to make electric cars under the Saab brand, but said it will also provide petrol cars until "electric cars fully meet customer demands." The first 200 cars will be delivered in spring costing 279,000 kronor (£26,000) each.
Ferrari releases teaser image of Enzo successor
Fri, 14 Dec 2012Update: Ferrari has released a new image of the Enzo successor's rear, which we've attached above. Of the 288 GT0, F40, F50, Enzo and its upcoming successor, Ferrari Technical Director Roberto Fedeli says, “Let's refer to them as our 'specials.' " That works for us. In a day and age when a Porsche Boxster S delivers performance on a par with yesterday's supercars, that particular appellation seems to have lost much in the way of meaning.
