F1 goes all arty with oil: Lewis Hamilton portrait
Mon, 08 Jun 2009By Peter Adams Motoring Issues 08 June 2009 14:00 It’s not often that the motoring world slickly merges with art, but Mobil 1 has made it happen. US artist David Macaluso has painted a portrait of Lewis Hamilton using oil not from a tube of paint, but from the sump of Hamilton’s F1 car. The oil was taken from Vodafone McLaren Mercedes’ 2008 F1 car – the vehicle that took Hamilton to the world championship last year.
Lexus LF-CC
Mon, 17 Sep 2012Lexus is set to debut the LF-CC mid-size coupe concept at next week's Paris motor show that will give us a glimpse of the design and technology ideas that will influence the brand's future models. The LF-CC shares a lot of the same design cues featured on the LF-LC 2+2 sports coupe concept seen in Detroit in January, not least the new spindle-shaped grille that are found on all new Lexus models. It is set in a deep, metal-finish surround and is framed by the hood lip, deep lower spoiler and the projecting front wing tips – this is designed to give it a 3D look.
Fuel magazine films Ford designer Craig Metros in his Melbourne workshop
Tue, 06 Sep 2011Australian auto culture magazine, Fuel, has created this beautiful short film, Factory 6, featuring an interview with Melbourne-based, Detroit-raised Ford Chief Designer, Craig Metros. The film explores the shared Melbourne workshop space in which Metros and five other designers work on a number of automotive and art projects in their spare time. It offers a great insight into his inspirations, his feelings on making the jump from Detroit to Melbourne and how it feels to have fulfilled a childhood dream.
